Griquas VS Blue Bulls and The Kimberley Diamond Cup.
Northern Cape | 07 October
Friday the 27th of September was the start of the weekend so I headed over to visit the Kimberley Diamond Cup. I was excited to hear that the council had planned a huge fireworks display, worth half a million Rand… wow… this was going to be epic! On the first day of the Cup, I got a chance to fuel my love for all things local, seeing some of the best street skaters in the world performing, as well as some of the most fantastic local musicians. The fireworks began at around 20h30 and it was truly a sight to see.
The next morning I headed down to the airport to collect a colleague from the Jonsson Workwear head office, our main aim for the day- spread word of the Jonsson Journey! We went straight to Workwear Depot Kimberley to pick up some flyers, which were then handed out by the cheerleaders at the GWK Park Stadium for the big game. When half-time came it was time for us to do our Jonsson Journey show. Three lucky contestants each had the chance to win R5000 worth of gift vouchers to use at Workwear Depot. The goal was to kick a rugby ball onto the Jonsson Journey Land Rover, which was parked on the try line. Despite the fact that none of the three contestants were able to do so, it was still an amazing day of sport and good weather.
After watching the rest of the game from the sidelines, we headed through to Bloemfontein. We stopped off in a small dorp to get some quality South African biltong from a Chinese Slaghuis (which was very random, yes). After a jam packed week I finished off in the Northern Cape.
